I would like to share my recommendation on railway modernization, especially towards improving safety and signaling. India is planning to spend big on these on its vast railway network. TCAS – Train Collision And Avoidance System, Indian Railways had been relying on costly European based ETCS level 2 based systems but from last 6-8 years had contracted three Indian based players to research and develop an indigenous system which is as good as European standards and costs 1/10th. The trial runs were successful and the implementation is proposed to happen in the next five years.
Out of three players two are listed – Kernex Microsystems and HBL Power Systems, am following both from more than four years but have only little quantity for tracking purpose. The other one is Medha Servo which is unlisted. Kernex is purely into railways products while HBL is more diversified.
Recent announcement of alloting 5 MHz spectrum is in the right direction.
