Even though Katy, Texas, a small city only 30 minutes outside of Houston, has an abundance of art galleries, attractions, and shopping areas. In the latter part of the nineteenth century, Katy was a railroad town. Because Katy was connected to Houston by the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT) Railroad line, the town's distinctive character is based on the railroad's lasting influence on its people and economy. There are many extraordinary attractions and things to do in Katy, especially for families.
