Privacy Policy

Last refreshed: June 19, 2026

You came here to learn about your 401(k), IRA, Social Security, or Medicare, and reading about money is personal. We have built Brightcom Retirement Planning to be informative, not nosy: we collect as little as possible, we never sell what we hold, and we have no accounts of yours to manage. This policy sets out exactly what that means.

Scope of this policy

This policy applies to brightcominvestors.com and explains how we handle information when you read articles, follow a link, or get in touch. It does not cover the external sites we point you to, such as SSA.gov or Investor.gov, each of which has its own privacy practices.

Information we process

We keep the categories of information narrow and deliberate:

  • Information you choose to send us. If you email us or use the Contact form, we receive your email address, any name you give, and the message itself.
  • Anonymous usage statistics. Aggregated, non-identifying figures such as pages viewed, approximate region, device and browser type, and the site that referred you, so we can see which guides actually help.
  • Standard technical data. Routine delivery information, including IP address, processed so that pages load securely and reliably.

How we use your information

We use what little we hold only to:

  • serve, secure, and maintain the website;
  • learn which topics readers find useful, so we can prioritise and improve them; and
  • read and reply to the messages you send us.

That is the full list. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not track you from one site to another.

What we will never do

This section matters most, because retirement savers are a constant target for fraud. So that you can spot an impostor instantly, here is our firm commitment:

We will never email, call, text, or message you to ask for your account numbers, your Social Security number, your passwords, or to move, transfer, or “verify” your money. We have nothing to sell you and no account of yours to access, so we have no legitimate reason ever to ask. Anyone claiming to be us who does any of these things is not us.

For the same reason, please do not send financial details, bank or brokerage account numbers, your Social Security number, or card numbers by email. Email is not a secure channel, and we genuinely do not need that information. Account-specific questions belong with your own advisor or the official tools. If something feels wrong, our guide to avoiding retirement scams explains the warning signs.

Cookies and analytics

We keep the site lightweight and use only what is needed to deliver pages. Where we measure traffic, we use a privacy-conscious analytics provider configured to minimise what is gathered, with IP anonymisation and no cross-site tracking. You can clear or block cookies at any time through your browser settings.

Service providers

To run the site we rely on a small number of providers, including a content delivery network that serves pages securely and a privacy-conscious analytics provider. They process limited technical data strictly on our behalf and under our instructions. We do not sell or rent your information, and we share it only as needed to operate the site or where the law requires it.

How long we keep information

We keep email correspondence only for as long as it takes to handle your enquiry and any sensible follow-up, after which it is deleted. Aggregated analytics are retained no longer than necessary to understand trends and are not tied to you as an individual.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, such as the right to access it, correct it, delete it, or restrict how it is used, for example under US state privacy laws or the GDPR. We respect those rights wherever they apply. To make a request, contact us using our Contact page and we will respond as the relevant law requires.

Protecting your information

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to safeguard the limited information we hold. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure, however, which is one more reason never to send confidential financial details by email.

Children’s privacy

This site is written for an adult audience planning for or living in retirement. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age at which consent applies in their region.

Updates to this policy

We may revise this policy as the site or the law changes. The “Last updated” date above always reflects the current version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
